红旗 (Hóngqí) is the Rolls Royce of China. A machine with a history, the dream of every car enthusiast, this classic four-wheeled beast is now preparing for a new golden age.
The Hóngqí, literally “Red Flag” is a luxury line of cars originally designed for the Party elite, and used to impress foreign counterparts - President Nixon was famously picked up in a Hóngqí when he came to visit China in 1972 as the first US president ever.
The legendary car became a real collector’s dream after the manufacturer ceased production in 1981, leaving only a few precious specimens on the market.
Recently, the brand has had a revival, and is now planning on becoming China’s new top class car, using new energy forms to combine historicity with environmental consciousness.
